🔍 Step 1: Diagnose the Request
→ Get clarity before reacting.
- [ ] I’ve taken a breath and not written an impulsive reply to my client
- [ ] I’ve reviewed the request in full (read it twice)
- [ ] I’ve given the client a call to clarify any initial questions
- [ ] I have done a budget reconciliation
- [ ] I’ve followed up with an email with confirmation of our discussion
- [ ] I now understand exactly what is being asked
- [ ] It is/is not a scope change (or we can absorb the change in time we have available)
- [ ] I’ve logged the request in our project management system
Step 2: Make a plan
→ Think like a strategist.
- [ ] I know why the client wants this change and can articulate it to my team
- [ ] I know who in my team will need to work on the change
- [ ] Resource availability checked
- [ ] I’ve organised a team huddle
- [ ] My team understands the changes
- [ ] I’ve created a list of clarifying questions (if needed)
